The spa town of Baden in the canton of Aargau is an insider tip for travellers who want to experience history, culture and nature in a charming little Swiss town. In this blog post, we will introduce you to three of our favourite sights that Baden has to offer. Let yourself be enchanted by the historic buildings, breathtaking landscapes and lively atmosphere. Whether you are only planning a short detour or want to stay a little longer, these highlights are definitely not to be missed.
Covered wooden bridge
Built in 1809, the covered wooden bridge leads from one side of the River Limmat to the other and should not be missed on a nice stroll through Baden.
The bridge is a special gem in the canton of Aargau. It is at least the sixth of its kind in Baden, as its predecessors were destroyed over the centuries by floods, ice masses or armed conflicts. And even if it’s hard to imagine today: the narrow wooden bridge once served as a main traffic route!

Baden History Museum
Once you have crossed the covered wooden bridge, the next attraction in the spa town of Baden is just a stone’s throw away: the History Museum. What sounds like a lot of tradition holds surprises: In a permanent multimedia exhibition, you learn about unexpected connections between spa activities and alternating current, between everyday factory life and youth movement. There are also two special exhibitions every year dedicated to relevant social issues. It is definitely worth visiting several times 🙂!
Upper and lower Halde
The picturesque alleyways of Baden in Aargau, with their colourful houses, are located in the heart of the old town and exude a charming appeal thanks to their proximity to the Limmat. In addition to long-established stores, numerous young, creative businesses can be found here. BLUME. tip: A detour to this area of Baden is particularly worthwhile to immerse yourself in the city atmosphere over a good coffee.
