The BLUME. has a story or two to tell. For more than 600 years, our charming boutique hotel has been inextricably linked with the spa town of Baden. We are happy and also a little proud to have been making history for so many years.
As a member of Swiss Historic Hotels, BLUME. is one of the historically most significant hotels in Switzerland. Why BLUME. is part of history
So much has happened in the more than 600 years of existence of the BLUME. There are stories and anecdotes to be discovered everywhere within our historic walls.
From the 15th century onwards, the spa town of Baden was an important meeting spot for traders and relaxation seekers. And the BLUME. has always been a go-to place. It was in our historic building that business was conducted, health was nurtured and, of course, history was made. This applied to the 11 December 1526 in particular, when Gotthard II von Breiten-Landenberg was murdered in the BLUME. – a tragic incident whose perpetrator and motive remain a mystery to this day. In the 17th century, the Count of Holzappel fell in love with the innkeeper’s daughter and returned over and over again. And when the railway brought the first guests from Zurich to Baden in 1847, the BLUME. experienced spa culture at its best.
As you can see, our history is rich in events. And each and every story is part of our testimony to the past. At the same time, the BLUME. continues to be a place where our guests write new, personal stories every single day.
